Integration with the e-commerce acquiring service of Moldova’s largest bank, maib, allows your online store to securely accept online payments using Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards.
What you need to know to connect the maib payment system
To connect MAIB e-commerce acquiring, you must be registered in one of the legal forms recognized by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and be a client of MAIB Bank.
Our integration uses direct payments.

How the integration works
After placing an order, the buyer is redirected to the maib payment page. After a successful transaction, the payment status of this order in the admin panel automatically changes to Paid: Yes.
Where to get the data to activate the integration
To obtain the data needed to activate the integration with maib, follow these steps:
Contact maib via email at [email protected] and receive the test keys: Project ID, Project Secret, and Signature Key.
Complete at least one successful transaction using the test project;
Sign an agreement with maib;
Activate the live project in the maibmerchants system, and as a result obtain the live keys for integration — Project ID, Project Secret, and Signature Key.
Activating the test integration in the Cartum admin panel
To run a test payment in your site’s admin panel:
Go to Settings → Payment providers.
Enter the test keys in the corresponding fields in the maib block.
Save the changes.
Setting up the maib payment option
Now you can proceed to set up the payment method for customers:
In Settings → Payment methods, select the payment method Online payment (maib).
Make sure the Type field is set to maib.
Fill in the other fields according to the maib requirements.
Enable the payment option by checking the Active checkbox.
Click Save.
Selecting delivery options
After connecting and configuring the payment method, you need to choose for which delivery options this payment method will be available:
Go to Settings →Shipping methods and carriers and click the required delivery method to open editing.
In the Payment field, check the Online payment (maib) checkbox.
Click Save.
Activating the live integration in the Cartum admin panel
After setting up the test integration, create at least one order via the Online store and pay for it using the test payment card details:

After completing the test payment and signing the agreement, you will gain access to the maibmerchants platform and will be able to activate the live project.
After activating the project, you will receive live keys. In the admin panel, go to Settings → Payment providers and replace the test keys with them.
Checklist for connecting maib payments
To make sure you don’t miss anything, check that all of the following steps have been completed:
At least one successful payment has been made using the test project and the test card;
The keys for the live project have been obtained on the maibmerchants platform and entered into the corresponding fields in Settings → Payment providers;
The Online payment (maib) payment option has been configured and enabled;
In Settings → Shipping methods and carriers, you have selected which delivery methods this payment option will be available for.
How order payment works
If, when placing an order, the buyer selects the appropriate delivery option, the Online payment (maib) payment option becomes available.
When selecting this payment method, the buyer proceeds to pay for the order either immediately after completing checkout or after the order is confirmed by the Manager, depending on which online payment mode is enabled on the site.
In the pre-moderation payment mode, the Manager must manually confirm the order by clicking the Send payment link button in the main orders table.
After that, the buyer will receive an email with a payment link. Also, in the order details in the buyer’s account, the Pay for order button will be displayed.
During payment, the buyer will see the maib payment page.
Payment link
In the main orders table, the Manager can quickly copy the online payment link to send to a buyer who didn’t pay for the order right away.
If online payment moderation is enabled on the site, the payment link is generated after clicking the Send payment link button. After that, the link can also be copied to send to the buyer additionally.
