Exporting products when migrating from other platforms

What product files are needed when migrating your store to Cartum, exporting products from OpenCart, Wordpress and other platforms

Updated over a month ago

When migrating (moving) your website from another platform, prepare an export file of your products and we will upload it to your test store so that you can check the store's performance before making a final decision. This procedure is carried out once — when creating a new store on Cartum.

To export products to Cartum, you can use XLS, XLSX, XML, and CSV files. Most platforms allow you to download product information and transfer it to the Cartum store almost completely. Some solutions have standardized exports, and you can easily prepare the required file yourself following our instructions.

Please note: in most cases, we can migrate full product information, but only the information contained in your export files.

Exporting products from an OpenCart store

Since OpenCart is an open source solution for online stores, there is no single standard way to download products from stores implemented on this system. Downloading can be done with the help of various modules that will suit your store, depending on the version of OpenCart you use.

We have developed our own module for migration from OpenCart. Contact us to install this module when migrating your store.

If you have an export module

If you have already exported products from your OpenCart store, please provide our specialist with the files and the domain name that is currently connected to your store. You will need the following Excel files:

  • file with products;

  • file with the catalog structure;

  • file with attributes.

We will be able to clarify what information can be transferred with this migration option after you provide the relevant files.

Exporting products from Wordpress and other platforms stores

In Wordpress online stores, the export of products can be organized in different ways due to the presence of a large number of different modules for products and frequent problems with mapping different components of the store, which does not allow us to recommend a specific plugin with which to perform the upload.

In this case, our specialists will evaluate the product information that can be transferred to the test store. This also applies to other less common platforms.
