Updated over 2 weeks ago

Let's take a look at what steps you should take to start filling your catalog:

Creating a product template

Time needed: 1 minute 🕑

Difficulty: ⭐⬜⬜⬜⬜

A product template is a set of attributes available for a particular group of products. Depending on the assortment of your catalog, you may need one or more product templates.

Let's figure out how to create a product template step by step.

Step 1.

In the admin panel, go to Products → Product templates.

Step 2.

Click + Add and specify a clear name for the product template. For example, Clothing.

Step 3.

Click Add to save your changes.

Now we can move on to creating attributes.

Setting up main product attributes

Time needed: up to 7 minutes 🕑

Difficulty: ⭐⭐⬜⬜⬜

The main attributes are parameters that are common to different variants of the same product. For example, the material of a T-shirt. They are displayed in a table in a separate Features block and can be used to filter and compare products. Let's figure out how to create them.

Main product attributes — Features — Cartum

Step 1.

In the admin panel, go to Products → Product templates and click the pencil next to the desired product template.

Step 2.

Click Add option/attribute or Add under the Attributes group.

Step 3.

Fill in the Title of the attribute. For example, Material.

Step 4.

In the Group field, select Attributes.

Step 5.

Select the Type:

  1. Selection from list — an attribute with a list of possible options. It can be used in filters.

  2. Number — exclusively for a numeric value (in the filter it looks the same as the price filter).

  3. String or Text field — any text. Cannot be used as a filter.

Step 6.

*only for Select from list attributes

Create a value list. In the Select from field, expand the list and click Add directory. Enter a clear name, for example, Material, and click Add.

Step 7.

Save the attribute.

We can proceed now to creating variant attributes.

Creating variant attributes

Time needed: up to 7 minutes 🕑

Variants are variations of products of the same model that differ in several properties. For example, a T-shirt of different sizes and colors.

And variant attributes are parameters that differ in products of the same model. Using them, you can set up the product selection form on your website.
