Popularity is a product parameter used to sort products in the catalog.
Sorting By popularity in the catalog
Sorting By popularity is set on catalog pages by default. If you have not set the Popularity parameter to products, they will be sorted by the date of creation.
The default value of the Popularity parameter for any product is 0 (zero). Popularity is set when editing a product; there is no automatic calculation of popularity in Cartum.
How to define the Popularity parameter
The value of the Popularity parameter for a product can be any integer number. The higher the number, the more popular the product is, and the higher it will be displayed in the catalog when sorted By popularity.
There are two ways to set the Popularity parameter for a product:
Manually in the settings of each product;
In bulk using an import file.
We do not recommend specifying too large values for popularity (for example, 123785).
How to set Popularity manually in product settings
In the admin panel:
Go to Products and select the product to edit.
Enter the number in the Basic information block → Popularity field.
Save your changes.
How to set Popularity in bulk using import
The import file must contain product SKUs and the Popularity column. For preparing the file, you can use an export file in Excel (extended) format .
Popularity with different sorting settings
For the product catalog, you can set up sorting rules that will take precedence over popularity when displaying products in the catalog.
The setting is set in the admin panel in Settings → General settings → Products → Priority sort order in catalog.
Depending on the set value, when sorting the catalog By popularity:
Disabled — products in the catalog are sorted according to popularity regardless of availability status;
By availability status — products in the catalog are sorted by availability status; among the products with the same status, those with a higher popularity value will be higher in the catalog;
By actions with the product — products in the catalog are sorted by available actions, for example, Order allowed; among the products available for ordering, those with a higher popularity value will be higher.
