Errors when importing from a file

The most common mistakes when importing products and how to fix them

Most often, an import error occurs due to a mismatch between the imported data and the category settings or product templates.

Category not found, or an invalid template was specified for the category

If you encounter the Category not found, or an invalid template was specified for the category error during the initial import of new products, one of the following situations may have occurred.

Category is not specified in the import file or does not exist

The product template is not specified in the category settings

The name or path to the category is incorrect

Check if a category specified in the import file exists on the website. The name and path to the category must be identical from character to character.

Product properties in the import file do not match the category template

For example, in the admin panel, you have created a Laptops section with the Catalog: Laptops template, into which you want to import products. An error will occur if a characteristic from another Catalog: Phones template.

Error in parent SKU

If you see an error with the text Parent product with article [SKU] does not exists when importing products, the following situations could occur.

The SKU listed as parent does not belong to any of the products

The SKU of one of the variants should be specified as parent.

The item with parent SKU is not the first

For the import to work correctly, the variant with the parent SKU must be imported first.

Importing images

The following warnings may appear when you upload a photo.

Product updated. The file: 'image URL' not loaded.

The file is missing at the link specified in the import table.

Import error: the file is missing — Cartum

Product updated. The maximum allowed file size is 5 megabytes, file: 'image URL' not loaded.

The image you try to upload is too large or has an invalid format. Convert the image to JPG, PNG, or GIF and/or reduce its size.

Product updated. The file: 'image URL' is a duplicate.

The import file contains links to photos that are already uploaded for the product and will not be duplicated on the site.
