Some websites that contain content intended only for an adult audience may be required by law to verify the visitor's age. When accessing such a website for the first time, the visitor must consciously confirm that he or she has reached a certain age.
In Cartum, you can set up the pop-up window that customers see when they first visit. The window can be configured for each language version enabled on the website.
How to set up an age verification pop-up
In the admin panel, go to Settings → General settings → Age confirmation.
Enter the settings for the pop-up.
Check the Show an age confirmation pop-up window during the first visit to the site box.
Save the changes.
Now, when your customers visit your website for the first time, they have to confirm that they meet the legal requirements for purchasing products with age restrictions.
Let's take a closer look at the available pop-up settings.
Settings for the 18+ pop-up window
You have to fill in the following settings fields for each language version of the site:
Age — age restriction, displayed in a bright large text (for example: 18+);
Heading — a question that the buyer must answer by clicking the buttons in the window (for example: Are you 18+ years old?)
Text — the text of the explanation about the need to confirm your age;
Confirm button text — the text of the age confirmation button (for example: Yes, I am 18+ years old)
Cancel button text — the text of the button to be clicked by the customer who does not confirm the age (for example: No, I am not 18+ years old)
Redirect link after cancel — a link to the page to which the customer who has not confirmed their age will be redirected (for example, https://www.google.com/).
