How can I change the message text that the customer receives after placing an order?

The text for this message is set in the Payment instructions field in the settings of the specific payment method.

Can the cart total be displayed without automatic rounding and include cents?

You can configure price rounding in the admin panel section Settings General settings Products, the Price rounding field. In this field, you need to specify the number of decimal places. For example, to round to cents, specify 2.

How do I add a promo code field to the checkout page?

You can enable the promo code field in the Cart and on the checkout page under Settings General settingsCheckout, the Show coupon field checkbox.
