A watermark is a semitransparent image (usually containing identification data such as a logo, URL, email address, etc.) superimposed on the main image to mark copyright information. It is used to ensure copyright protection for intellectual resources in digital format.
Setting up the watermark
To upload and set up the watermark:
Go to Settings → General settings → Watermark.
Upload a watermark Image.
In the Placement field, select the desired location of the watermark on the photo.
Click Save.
Watermark requirements
Image format: PNG;
Image size: no more than 1800*1800 px (this is the maximum size of the product image uploaded). If the product images are smaller than 1800*1800 px, the watermark should be smaller than the smallest product image.
Why the watermark may not appear
The watermark must be smaller than the product image in any of its parameters (height/width), otherwise the watermark will not be displayed.
The watermark is displayed only on thumbnails that are larger than the watermark itself. You can check the watermark in the modal gallery on a large photo.
Updating the existing watermark
Updating a watermark follows the same algorithm as adding it (see above). There is no need to delete thumbnails, regenerate images, or clear the file cache.
The only reason why the image may not be updated is browser caching. To get around it, you need to open the page in incognito mode or clear the page cache (Ctrl + F5).
Duplicated watermarks
Sometimes, clients upload photos that already contain a watermark. As a result, the watermarks are duplicated, blurred, or appear where they shouldn't. If in doubt, it's best to remove the watermark first and check the questionable image in the gallery.
