What has changed in working with banners

A new, more user-friendly and intuitive interface for managing banners on the website

We've updated the banner management interface. The setup process is now faster and more convenient.

Key changes:

  • The ability to upload and customize banners for the desktop version of the home page directly in the design editor;

  • An updated interface for managing banners in the header and on catalog pages;

  • The Open link in new tab option for all banners.

Banners on the home page

In the admin panel section Design Design editorHomepage , you can now not only manage banner lines, but also upload and preview the banner images themselves, as well as configure banner settings.

Please note: The changes to the design editor currently apply only to the desktop version of the website.

The size of each banner, in pixels, is displayed in the upper-right corner of each banner upload field. The dimensions are specified for retina displays — you can use images that are half the size horizontally and vertically without losing quality.

The language switcher allows you to manage images separately for different language versions. By default, banners for the primary language version are displayed.

Clicking on an image or the pencil icon opens an editing window where you can set the image attributes (alternative text and title) and the link or page to which the user will be redirected when they click on the banner for each language version.

A feature common to all language versions of the banner is the Open link in new tab toggle. This option is also available for all other banners on the site.

You can also upload additional banners to the same line in the design editor to create sliders. You can place up to 16 banners in a single line.

For banners using the 2x, 3x, Wide 2x, Wide 3x templates, you can create additional rows within a single banner line. However, the second and subsequent rows will only load once all preceding banners have loaded.

In lines using these templates, as well as the Block Plus template, you can swap images by dragging them with the mouse.

Each banner can be hidden independently of the others, even within a shared banner line, by clicking the eye icon on the image or using the Show on storefront toggle in the editing window.

Please note: When you delete a banner line, the images uploaded to it are also deleted. If you want to reuse these images, you'll need to upload them again.

In the WebsiteBanners section, on the Home Page tab, you can also upload images for banners, manage their attributes, and create sliders.

The icons in the upper-right corner of the banner line indicate which version of the site it is used on — desktop, mobile, or both. Banners configured for the mobile version only are displayed at the bottom of the page.

Banner above the header

In the WebsiteBanners section, on the Header tab, you can upload a banner that appears on all pages of the website. It can be text-based (background color, text color, and text content are specified by the user), image-based (an uploaded image), or a combination of both.

You can set the banner's height and link, specify which version of the site it will be used on, as well as enable the Dismiss button and set the link to follow.

Banners on the catalog pages

In the WebsiteBanners section, on the Inner pages tab, you can place banners on catalog pages of any level. Banners can be placed at the top and bottom of the page, including in multiple categories at the same time.

Just like with the banners on the home page, you can set the banner attributes and links here.
